30mm diameter / 4mm thick / 20.5 grams Its unusual in that there is no replica or copy mark. I call it a replica because: 1. Its incredible condition 2. The long uneven seam on the edge 3. I paid .99 cents for it from a Goodwill locked display case. 4. The lettering doesn't have the triangular points at the ends. Am I wrong? Is this a legitimate replica or a fake?
Eh, I'll still use it for cards. Thanks for the info, I saw it was a Titus Sesterce, but I was wondering what company would make a replica without marking it somewhere. If it is not marked replica or copy, then is it technically a fake?
No problem. Heres an example of a real one http://cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=109831 tad bit more than .99 cents. Maybe if we all saved up and went in together??
The seam almost looks like a coin I once saw that unscrewed to reveal a secret compartment inside. I doubt the original intent of the maker was to fool knowledgeable collectors because the style is not very close but things like this can get sold a hundred times at different degrees of deceit. It is well worth 99 cents as a novelty and placeholder.
if i saw it, i'd pay 99 cents for it! it really does look like a lid, can you open it? welcome @jim bone !
I tried unscrewing it, no luck, it doesn't seem to be like that, the seam blends in with the edge and disappears. Hey, I'm gonna start a new thread with my ebay collection to get any opinions on whether they are fake or not.
