There are 2 very good reasons for never buying a raw coin. </p><p><br /></p><p>One - if and when you ever decide that you want to sell it, it is going to be much more difficult. And you will have a harder time getting what the coin is really worth - if it is raw.</p><p><br /></p><p>Two - just about any numismatic authority you can think of will agree that 80% or more of all older coins that are raw are problem coins of one kind or another. So the odds when you buy that raw coin are 8 to 2 against you getting a problem free coin. Those aren&#039;t very good odds.</p><p><br /></p><p>So why ? Why do people buy raw coins ?</p><p><br /></p><p>Any coin you can find raw - you can find one in a slab. And it&#039;s not going to cost you anymore than the raw one does.
