Grung09, I looked the coin up in Delmonte's reference book. Looks like you may have a very nice coin !!!!! Let's start optimistically but I think yours is the larger coin (second coin described) because of the "dot" legend stops verses "star" legend stops !!! First check the diameter, if it is about 33mm and weighs apprpx. 13.45 grams it is the coin below. It's a Delmonte # 868 Gelderland 1/2-ecu au lion (1/2 lion daalder or 1/2 leeuwendaalder). It's rarity scale is R.3 (Extremely Rare). Minted for 6 years (1589, 1893, 1597, 1599, 1602, 1602/1600) Delmonte does not in include values. Here's one I found as reference on coinarchives.com which is a better grade than the one you have but should give you a idea of value. It is dated 1589 which is also an R.3 rarity so I assume the coin is of comparable value. It sold at a European auction (Jean Elsen) in September 2006 for approx. $875 (includes buyers fee)!! Here's the link: http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.php?LotID=413226&AucID=308&Lot=56 If it's about 40mm it is not the previous coin it is a Ecu au lion and I'll give you information on it. It's a Delmonte # 824 Gelderland Ecu au lion (lion daalder or leeuwendaalder). It is not listed on the rarity scale = (therefore common). Minted for 8 years (1589, 1893, 1597, 1598, 1599, 1600, 1602, 1602/1600) Here's one I found as reference on coinarchives.com which is a better grade than the one you have but should give you a idea of value.
