I was given a gold coin and since I know NOTHING about coins, I'm trying to find out what it may be worth. Perhaps one of you super smart people can help me!
It's a John F. Kennedy - Robert F. Kennedy Proof Gold Commemorative Medal

Obverse shows a side by side bust of the brothers with the dates of their death.

The reverse depicts a bird of peace holding an olive branch and is inscribed around the edge "Sententia - Pax-Labor-Panis - Orbi Terrarum."

This medal is .900 gold and weighs 17.4 grams

It was issued in Germany, and it is in MINT condition.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I dunno. I Googled it and found this:

Edit: the first pictures are not your coin, but a few posts down, one of the participants says:

"The Gold Proof version of this seems to be made in Germany. It would weigh 15.68 grams and have HH 999.9 under the eagle in small text. This does not appear to be the one you are displaying. It would sell for ~$1,600."

I'm sure with enough research you can find out more about it. It was made in Germany.
I'd say valued at around $875 melt value of 17.5 grams of 22k gold. you'd be offered less if you sold it though just because that's the way it works. No idea if it has numismatic or collector value. It's not a u.s. issue and no idea how many were made.

I don't find much and not sure how accurate.
    "Purity:900/1000
    D:26.20mm
    Weight:10.56g, 1/3 Ounce "

I'm not sure if the made different sizes.
    If it's 10.56g it's worth about $530.00 melt.

And that's if it's not a reproduction/fake. Not saying it is, just saying I don't know.

I have a similar item. It weighs around 3-3.5 grams - about the size of a penny - so it’s melt value is likely around $150.

A copper penny is about 19mm in diameter and weighs 3.11grams. A gold coin of the same diameter and thickness would weigh quite a bit more than 3.5 grams.

Razz, I believe the difference in thickness explains your observation. My gold coin is significantly thinner than a penny.
