I purchased this set today and can find out little to nothing about them. The only thing I do know, is that the Franklin Mint produced them and they are egyptian proof & legal tender. Can anyone tell me the mintage or scarcity? 20160929_193626.jpg 20160929_193610.jpg 20160929_192643_HDR.jpg

Nice set, they would fit nicely in my collection.

I don't know if they were produced by the Franklin Mint or not. They set may have just been put together by them. Look on the reverse for a mint mark.

If valued at $55 each, then I did ok. I just thought they were beautiful coins. When you say "mintage NA" does that mean there's no documentation of it?

Mintage Not Available. No mintage numbers were listed in my copy of Krause. You might try some research on internet and find mintage numbers.
One of the reasons I question the Franklin Mint is that the coins appear to be in Air-Tites, which are an aftermarket product.

Check ebay pricing, much higher than the Krause catalog value of $55.

I see no mint mark anywhere. The reverse of all 5 coins look like this..... 20160929_215626.jpg

The mintmark is right above the R. It's a stylized F.

I really like that coin. I paid $30/coin for my set and was leary of doing that due to my lack of knowledge on them. Glad I did though. I called my coin guy and he told me not to pass up this deal.

I'm assuming that stands for The Franklin Mint?

you got a deal of a life time. I would guess each coin is now worth $100-140 depending on how bad someone wants it/them.

Egyptian currency. As of today, 5 pouns is equal to about $0.56 USD.
