Every coin pic on my website has been taken with my FujiPic A-350 5.2 megapixel. I use no zoom at all, only the macro. I built a stand in the machine shop, Magman and Clembo have seen it. Old cheapo camera and GE Reveal lightbulb ( 60W ) in a desk lamp.
I use a Canon PowerShot A630. 8 megapixels. But more important than a lot of pixels are a tripod and good light.
