I want to expand my collection of Roman coins after a gap of more than 30 years. During that time my original trusted dealers have disappeared so I'm looking for new blood. I've looked at the websites for these UK dealers whose offerings include (some) Roman coins: Halls Hammered Coins Rare coins and tokens Classical coins Mike R Vosper Silbury Coins Wessex Coins Does anyone have any comments about any of these or any others that I should take a look at?
I've made a lot of purchases of coins, all medieval though, from Mike R Vosper and have never had an issue with him. His coins are as described and photographed and shipment to the U.S. has been smooth. While I'm not the demographic you asked for, I would highly recommend him.
I have bought medieval from Hall's and roman from Silbury. Both are top notch imho. Fast shipping, great communication, and very easy to deal with.
I've bought from Vosper, Silbury and Wessex and recommend them all. All attend the London coin fairs, if you're able to get to London for them. I also recommend Lodge Antiquities (John Cummings) on VCoins, who also attends some of the London fairs. I bought coins from him as a child in the late 1980s!
