Sir all I'm going to say to you is what you do is your choice. And when someone falsely accuse me of being a thief I'm going to stand up and defend myself. And from a senior member I would expect more. And I guess it's okay if someone accused you of being a thief. If you got a accuse someone make sure you have all the facts first is all I'm saying.And it's my belief is someone ignores something they themselves have something to hide.USMC60

Sir no one suing anyone. But you did make accusations that are totally not true. And verbally called me a thief. Even by your statement you're showing you're not as knowledgeable as you think you are. Why do you think the gentleman went after Peter and not after the member that supposedly copyrighted his material. A little research on your part would show you that gentlemen couldn't go after the member. So he tried to go through Peter.All I hope is that member knows that was involved in that incident that he did not illegally infringe on that person's material.All I'm saying Sir if you're going to accuse someone of being something be sure of your facts.It's all out there under copyright infringement law. Did you post someone's work without giving them credit? You already said you did so you don't have to answer. If you post a link, there is no problem. It's simple.

@usmc60 I'm not saying it is or isn't, but even if it wasn't against the law, it should be.
How would you feel if you wrote a book and when it was published, it has someone else's name on it?

 

First, if you're so confident in your accusation of slander, you should, but won't because we both know what this really is, and that's an after-the-fact hissy you're dragging out simply because you feel slighted. This is far from the first time I've noticed your habit of copying and pasting bits taken from other sites as if your own, but said nothing assuming that if I could see it so plainly, so could/should the powers that be. However, because the one copied article was "edited" by the very individual who tried to shut this site down (per the provided link of you bothered reading it), something needed to be said, even if only out of respect for Peter's request. Then, instead of some horribly schmuckish response meant to embarrass you, all I did was to post exactly what you should have (cite your sources) in a perfectly reasonable and respectful manner, yet instead of taking it as such and simply doing the right thing, here we are up to our necks in nonsense... again.

As for my infinitely offending remark, did you happen to notice that I didn't call you a "thief" as you're now claiming, but simply asked a question? I realize the subtlety is likely lost upon you, but there is a difference between, as you're now accusing me of, saying "you are a thief" and asking if my interpretation of your previous comment was correct. Go back and re-read what was actually said if needed, but still, if one takes the work of others without giving due credit and presents as their own, it is, for all sense and purposes, stealing.

And that's exactly what got us to this point; your refusal to cite your sources. If you're so confident in your position, why not post these supposed links in order to educate me/us? Perhaps it's because there are no links just as there is no "prominent attorney" telling you it's perfectly legal to copy anything and everything special measures haven't been taken to protect?

Now, simply for the sake of letting this ridiculousness go, how about this... if you apologize to the board (sincerely this time) and pinky promise to do the right thing in the future, I'll apologize to you for whatever will make you happy. The holocaust, Richard Simmons, you name it, anything short of your accusation. Fair?

We've all learned a lot here about my OP; and still need to figure out posting and copyright law as it actually is taught in Law school. I have been accused of ruining quite a few threads myself.

 

Let's start with this little phrase it yours.

Man up there whole Internet out there. With the answers you seek.Start by looking under the fair usage act.That explains the previous question I asked you that use sidestep by the garbage up above. Insider first off my apologies. But you have to admit this thread has given a lot of insight to other members especially the newer members. And hopefully they will do their research.And as far is what's being taught in law school and copyright law. All you have to do is look it up is there to read. And this is especially for the new members on CT try your best not to post copyrighted material on this site. Though CT is protected under the law is still a big aggravation. Because CT is a profit-making site. Even though you may be protected under the fair usage act CT is not to an extent. All this information could be obtained simply by going on in googling copyright law. You will find websites that you can actually talk to an attorney that will give you limited advice on This kind of situation.Insider again did not mean to disrupt your thread.USMC60

 

Show a little class for once, will you? What this all boils down to is you bellyaching and crying over being called out for copying and presenting someone else's work as your own. Now, I'm sorry, but since you wish to drag this out, you simply cannot be this much of an idiot.

Do you not see the question mark at the end, or is reading comprehension a foreign concept? It is beyond your abilities to quote as posted without carving out whatever part you feel validates your whine? And let's be honest here; you did essentially steal words that were not your own, refused to give due credit, and now would prefer to make lame excuses instead of simply admitting a mistake. Oh, and I'd be more than happy to say the same to your face, tough guy. Don't flatter yourself.

As for your "fair use" crutch, it doesn't seem to apply in this case. Were you commenting on, criticizing, parodying, what you copied, or maybe it was for research purposes, or perhaps it was newsworthy? I suppose you could pretend you were teaching, but something tells me presenting another's work as your own on a discussion forum doesn't cut it. Was it in any way transformative? Not from what I see. Of course you could show whatever proof you feel justifies your position and actions, but I won't hold my breath.

And please do as promised and crawl into your shell; it would probably be the best for everyone.
