Well, it's been a while since I made this post, but I finally sent this coin back to PCGS. I decided to err on the side of caution and send in for reconsideration, even though the chance for upgrade (and amount of the upgrade) is generally lower for reconsideration in my experience.

I finally received the results and . . . .

It upgraded! It went plus and is now in a MS64+FH GoldShield holder. I have to admit I feel pretty proud and validated about this. This is the first I've branched out from Mercury Dime's for regrade/reconsideration/crack-out submissions. It's nice to gain some confidence in my grading skills in other areas.

When I get the TrueView back, I will post.

 

I should note that several posters concluded that the chance of upgrade was "slim." To be fair, it is much harder to make these calls from the photos than having the coin in hand.

 

I could see the 64+. I don’t see 65 on it. I thought it a high end 64 why I would have sent to cac for a bean

Now what is this cac everyone references? Is that like a secret handshake I haven't attained?

 

Here's the TrueView. It did not come out as nicely as I hoped. It has a much stronger yellow hue in the TrueView than I expected. In hand it looks white framed by a stronger contrast of rainbow along the rims.

 

That quarter has stunning colors. Beautiful!

 

Pay the $12 for new holder and TV. Better option then regrade
