How dare you call me a "con"?

I'm retired after more than 20 years in bank legal departments, and I guarantee you that I know far more than you do about how banks actually operate. I'll probably regret violating Jim M's sig line comment by arguing with you, but I've had enough of your personal insults!

I would not worry too much about hillbillyricky, hontonai. He is just a typical person who believes what they say on the network news - no one should make more than the lowest paid employee in a company and no company should not make any money while the government runs everything else. It may be great in theory, but it does not work worth a tinker in reality

Banks charge for everything, especially if you don't have an account with them.

Call your congressman? Sorry dude, I think you must be stuck in 1959. good luck finding a bank who takes care of you the way you want

It can't, find me one bank that orders from the federal reserve directly? To order from the federal reserve you have to show up with your own transportation, they don't generally ship anything for free.

This is why the armored car services took this step away from the banks, they have their own transport and security.

Banks have to pay big fees to get coinage from the armored car company's. Armored car companies have to pay for the rolling machines, trucks, employees etc.

Now tell me again it costs them nothing?

God forbid the banks should ever do anything for free. The people in the banks who whine about having to get coins for folks should all have to work part time for minimum wage, preferably as an assistant to the assistant in charge of bathroom air cleanliness at McDonalds (salaried shift work and mandatory overtime required of course). I guess they're grumpy though from the horrible working conditions and I'm sure it's a real bummer for them to see anybody getting anything for free....especially in a bank!

Edit Besides, complaining to the Congress wouldn't do any good...they're already in bed with the bankers.

For Pete's Sake hillbillyricky do you even read any of the responses to your rant? For that matter do you read ANYTHING without saying "call your Congressman"?

Banks are not coin dealers dude. They supply what is needed - period. They are businesses - sorry if that hurts you but it IS the truth.
When you go to work do you want to make enough money to pay your bills or just enough to pay taxes? Would you like to eat in the meantime?

When banks order coin they do it because THEY need it NOT you. I highly doubt they have charts laid out that read "Impact on hillbillyricky's potential for roll searching and maybe a 10 year old will fill a hole in his book".

There really is an easy solution to your dilemma. Get an account at EVERY bank you can. Ride all over and when you don't get what you want close the account. THEN write your Congressman. Hey, they need a good laugh too.

I could continue typing for hours on this but I realy don't have the time. Deal with it and good luck.

THere are banks that care and treat customeers better than they should in some cases. I am a branch manager of a bank and have been there 6 years. We have free no minumum checking with no per check fees, the debit card is free, and as long as you use our ATM's theres no charge for that. We do not charge for rolled coin or even boxed coin, and yes, we have a few people that we do regular orders for. Not to mention that we're open 7 days a week and all holidays but 5. So don't summmarize your opinion and include every bank just cause your bank doesn't do what you want. Close your account, cut your losses and go somewhere else. And quit being so miserable. Its not a big deal

Exactly, different banks have different fees for different fees. All make money somewhere. The bank I worked for didn't charge for rolled coin and they would order them without a change for you...but some charge for that. IMHO, the bank I worked for had high overdraft charges and stricter policies than needed...but that's where they made their profit.

Ahhh..you mean the profit IN ADDITION TO the billions generated from the loans paid back at double and triple the original loan amount (and that no cash was actually EXCHANGED or anything of intrinsic value was ever moved or "lent" in the first place), that which they are then able to "loan" back out at what, 10 to 1 against what they actually have on hand? (or is it more now?), or maybe you mean the billions in CEO bonuses, stock options or pensions that could probably retire the national debt. Yes, I can see how profit can so easily be jeapordized by arranging for a customer to get hold of some rolled coins. They do that several times and before you know it, BOOM!!!, another bank failure, and after all, why only have 800 trillion billion ga-zillion when you can 800 trillion billion ga-zillion + $1.00 too? RAPE, PILFER, AND PROFIT BABY!!

And their profit margin ratio was? If they took TARP, my guess is that it was negative. Therefore, you want me to pay for you to get the rolls for you. And just what makes you think I would like to do that for you let alone the rest of the collectors?

Actually, I was thinking maybe that it come from the gaz-illion profiteer types and unless you are one of them, I don't see how that would bother you, but, hey, it was just a thought. I know the profiteers pass that "one penny less" onto the lower ranks, so you'd think that indirectly, you'd be paying for it, but, in actuality is the bloodsuckers at the top who control it, not the poor slob that is trying to collect the rolls. Greed is good! Enough is never enough! More! More! More!!! Corporate America. Slave on sheople.

I guess you need to start harassing Google. The last I heard, they were making 30-40% on the dollar. And you are upset at a bank making anything. (Historically, they have average 5-10%.) The company you need to patronize in Exxon-Mobile. They have been making nothing on their gasoline and profiting only from diesel, chemical, and drilling operations and their overall profit margin has been 3-4%.

Hmm..don't recall saying making ANYTHING was at issue. I beleive I was trying to demonstrate that greed is an issue. Taking more than you need and then some more, and then when you can't stuff any more into your pockets, take some more seems to be the mindset of Corportists. I submit that is we all took a little less when we had the opportunity to take more, we might not all have to go down with the ship. I don't see the corporate
mentality being along those lines. Lastly, I don't see anyone with that mentality doing anything for 3-4%, so I'd dispute those numbers, but then maybe they are achieved with the Bernie Madoff accounting program. It's gonna all crash and burn shortly anyway, so, maybe we'll get the opportunity to fix it then, (gotta be positive!!!)
