Like you I'm a long term 70+ year collector of coins since walking into a B&M shop, @9YOA, across from the parochial school I attended as the top of class student for 8 years. I offered with a guarantee that I could improve his business with merely a coin trade for my time.

He quickly learned why I had a documented genius rating, able to recognize extraordinary coins. He took me to coin shows to peruse the offerings at the various tables, recommending coins of greater relative value. The coins, when displayed in his shop, improved business. He offered my services to other dealers where I had more offerings than time. Many nice coins were received for my services.

I learned the prominent factors that influenced buyers for the various coin types, and was able to amass a nice collection. Buyers from all over would learn of my collection by word of mouth, knowing that I would probably have multiples of semi-keys/keys which they wanted, with a best market price.

When Heritage started their auctions of Gold pre-1933 coins, without a buyers premium, I was one of their greatest customers. They eventually opted to duplicate my winning bid for their purchase of coins I won. We parted ways.

I continued buying only properly certified Gold coins, regardless of TPG, finding that the now pre-emptive graders were as the grading study author published in their magazine. I purchased several bags of Silver coins per month from bullion dealers at a premium for sorting, I removed better coins, selling the lesser coins to Hannes Tulving at a desirable discount.

When CAC was established, I realized that they were doing as I had, and have done continuously throughout the years. I was informed that they keep records of unacceptable coins for beaning, stated so they never change their opinion on a coin. I designed a copyrighted label which is applied to all rejected coins, removed when I sell the coins at a market discount to associates that appreciate the profitable consideration to them.

I've found CAC to be the best assurance of a quality product, regardless that only ~30% of my coins received a bean, when submitted through various varying dealers.

    JMHO
