    I just got Confirmed recently and this was an amazing gift from my sponsor. My Confirmation name was St. Eligius, the patron saint of coin collectors!

    I am a bit of an ancient coin noob and this is my first time posting an ancient coin on here so hopefully I did it right! Any input appreciated! :)

    Here is the first anonymous follis in our collection:

    Constantine VIII
    Class A3 anonymous follis
    1025-1028 AD
    Obverse: IC-XC to right and left of bust of Christ facing with nimbus cross behind head, 2 dots in each limb of the cross, holding book of gospels with dot in centre of the book's border
    Reverse: +IhSUS XRISTUS bASILEU bASILE in four lines, ornament above and below

    Lovely story! I wish you all the best in your religious endeavours. I wasn't aware there was a saint of coin collecting. Hopefully that comes up at a pub quiz!

    I apologize for being extremely pedantic, but I'm wondering why you opted for A2 rather than A3. According to the resource below that I often use, A3s come in at about 10g compared to the A2s 15-20g.

    Thank you for noticing that. I was using that site to identify it as well but I thought it better fit A2. Both A2 and A3 looked very similar. Like I said though, ancient coins are relatively new to me. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
