    @MerlinAurelius
I have debated on how to store my coins. I am leaning toward trays, but am now concerned about security. I have trays that fit my bank vault, but it takes a trip to the bank to see them.

Quite a buying spree. I like your owls, especially the eyes -

PS - the owl eyes came from a parenting blog

I liked the quote that went with the eyes:
Parents assert authority when needed with the big eyes to let a child know when they've stepped over limits. Druckerman says," 'the big eyes' works best when there is mutual respect...strictness comes with flexibility...giving kids autonomy and choices"

    And the buying spree continues

I did not buy the last owl I posted about with nice toning and Athena's nose missing but I am still contemplating it. I feel the coin is worth well over $700.

    I did buy these however.

Lot of 14 Athenian owls. Some black spots on a few, most have test cuts on reverse.

I think I bought this owl yesterday from Roma but was unable to watch the Live auction via Coretech as TIF posted about similarly. But it shows I am still the current maximum/winning bid in my account so I am assuming I won...???

You won it according to Roma's site(unless someone else is using the name MerlinAurelius). The site was having all sorts of issues around the time all the lots closed, just like it did this weekend when they decided to extend bidding. It seemed like even more lots than usual went for under estimate because those last-30-second snipers couldn't place bids so good for bidders, bad for consignors perhaps.

Thank you sir for that information. I was frustrated when the bidding was extended, but now am glad I got one lot I was hoping for at a decent price. At least I think it was a decent price...

Congratulations @MerlinAurelius. Now that's a bunch of owls. Are you keeping them or selling some? Regardless, good buy

No they aren't. They require a bit of capital outlay. Good investment in IMHO though.

Curious: How many of the group do you consider different from each other or are you particularly interested in one (very popular) period for some reason? Most collectors would select 4-5 different owls including one Classical. If you had to pick just one of the group as pick of the litter, which would it be? The answer, to my eye, is not obvious.

The single is a good coin, IMHO.

Definitely selling some. If I had that much money to spend on my own collection I would be buying archaic Athenian Owls from the time of Aristides "the Just" and Cleisthenes and Themistocles. But alas, they are still too far from my reach...

Thank you Doug. I am very happy to have won that single coin. The rest certainly are very similar types, if not the same type. I would say possibly the top center coin is more of the smiling type while the rest are frowning. The pick of the litter, to me, is the top left coin but there is not much difference between all of them. I did not buy them as a collector but as a reseller, hence the very popular period and coin bought in bulk. I do love the coin and would be more than happy to keep any that do not sell~~~~~

One more coin to add to the pile. I was talking with the auction house about my order and they noticed a coin I bid on was passed so they offered it to me at the lowest price possible. I had to take it as it is a pretty valuable coin. I am not very knowledgeable about this coin but I know its value is a bit higher than I paid. If anyone knows about this coin please share.

They are not common in better conditions, and yours looks fairly good. He is a rarer usurper of the seleucid dynasty. Here is a page with some introductory information on dynasty.

Very nice example! Thank you for the resource. I am woefully uneducated on this time in history, despite its significance. How Alexander's empire crumbled is still rather unknown to me. I know it was divided among his generals but what happened after that...:(:(

What would you say is a normal price range for this coin???

Maybe I should have asked the community here about this coin before I told the auction house to add it to my invoice. I hope it was not a mistake.
