Perhaps your Son could help create/color some cool dividers for you... Your Son looks like he is approx my Grandkids ages... I am looking for cool ways to get them involved / interested in my Ancients too!
You have to have some sort of system. I know my RR coins really well and keep them organized according to Crawford and have it largely memorized, so I can very quickly find a given coin. If nothing else, you could always keep coins organized by empire or mint and then chronologically and label the boxes and find them quickly.
Thank you for sharing. That is similar to my method. Each of my boxes is divided into three sections and I put different types in each section, Greek, Roman Imperial, US coins, etc. I think putting a label on the outside of each box will help, too.
This is the best way I have found to display, organize, and store. Works well for my needs and tastes.
Thank you for your post Bing. And thank you for your thoughts on the Augustus. Feel free to post as many pictures as you like. Isn't that an awesome denarius. I had to have that one.
I glue in a couple cardboard dividers making the long box into three shorter ones and reinforcing the box at the same time. You do have to be careful to cut the inserts to the exact right size so envelopes fit inside and the lid will still go on. This goes a long way to preventing envelopes from sliding under each other when you don't have the box all the way full.
Quite a buying spree indeed! I really only have two of the same type, but I'm tired and didn't get any coining in today so I'm going to indulge myself a bit:
Actually I got these coins all for resale. Nice coins!!! More pictures to a thread is always a good thing isn't it??? And my buying spree isn't finished yet. Several auctions left to go this week~~~
Love the Alexander coin and the photo in natural light. It's like you are a soldier holding it going to market. Brings it back to life!!! Thanks again for sharing~~
that's a sweet bunch of coins..great score. what's the first apollo reverse? i assume that's the augustus coin? neat provincial!
Th The Augustus is the first coin after the Athenian owls with a greenish patina. Bust to the right and Apollo? on the reverse with a lyre. I assume it is Apollo because of the lyre but who knows maybe it is Orpheus? haha There is another coin with a seated figure and black patina that is Homer seated with a scroll and has Apollo on the reverse.
About to add this one, I want to make sure I don't overpay. Anyone want to share their thoughts on its value?
