Ouch! Did I say there was something wrong with collecting multiples? So sorry you think I was attacking the OP. That was not my intent.
There is a specific polish coin from the 30's that I buy any time I can find one for a decent price. I have many and will get many more. If ya like it, ya like it.
Well, I went back today and the coin was still there. Buying the second one actually made me feel good as I found out the first one I bought was cleaned.
I usually buy coins to get one of each, sometimes I do not have my inventory list handy and end up with a duplicate, I usually sell the lesser grade, or if my brother happens to come by I give it to him. He was here for Memorial day so he got my duplicate 1853p half dime.
No sir, I was responding to Clint who asked how bank rolls were brought up. I was just clarifying I was considering bank rolls of a key date nickel basically 40 coins.
Wow Treashunt, you remind me of that guy who bought up nearly half of the 1856 flying eagle cents in order to drive up the price. His plan worked well and I spent way too much for that coin. How many 01-S do you have. Just playing, nice collection.
I guess I was in a round-about way :dead-horse: since there's nothing wrong with buying a roll and not opening...yet Who is to say if you may or may not open later, for profit or for anticipation  How exciting it may be to find you got a real winner! So who could, with a straight face and in all honesty, condemn a buyer of multiples of NOT being a collector, without knowing the underlying motivation?
Okay. Because you had my user name and quoted my post in your response #32 so I thought you were talking about me.
I saw an exhibit with the same coin in all the PCGS grades including all the detail 'codes' honestly i thought it was weird it was a wheat cent but interesting someone would do that.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. -Albert Einstein Do I consider buying multiples insanity? On the contrary I think this can prove wrong because each coin is uniquely different in my collection. Even the rolls of coin.
I try to avoid buying multiples of the same exact coin (same coin, same year) unless it's for bullion or upgrading purposes. If I have two of the same coin with the same year I'll sell the lesser one off or trade it for something different. I don't really pay attention to mint marks, so those have no bearing on whether or not I keep two of the same coin.
