<p>[QUOTE="TIF, post: 2289195, member: 56859"]No need to worry, Doug. They can buy freshly scrubbed slabbed coins from GreatCollections, such as this (ahem) <i>lovely</i> sparkling clean <a href="http://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/259259/Ancient-Roman-Empire-Galerius-AD-305-311-BI-Nummus-1018g-Issue-as-Caesar-Heraclea-NGC-XF" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="http://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/259259/Ancient-Roman-Empire-Galerius-AD-305-311-BI-Nummus-1018g-Issue-as-Caesar-Heraclea-NGC-XF" rel="nofollow">Galerius follis</a>, which cost someone $352:</p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://www.greatcollections.com/image.php?cmd=thumb&subcmd=itemphoto&id=53b45e4fad3488be3e39b4d5294be3a7&w=268" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>If you want a good laugh/cry, browse GreatCollections. They have slowly been adding more ancients, all slabbed and mostly low-end or common coins yet with incredibly high estimates. That some of these were slabbed in the first place is astonishing. Sales have been slow but they're picking up. I bet that most sales are to non-ancient collectors. Below are some cringers currently for auction.
