Just a few supporting reasons why this is so: - Take out a mortgage on your home. Default on said mortgage. The bank forecloses on your home. The bank is the first recorded lien holder. Oh nay nay. The tax man miraculously jumps in front of the first mortgage holder to collect their 'rent'. - Want to build a deck, a foundation for a new shed, an extension on the house, a fence, a pool, etc. Can't do it without requesting permission from the building department (our uncle). Approval isn't even enough. Must pay a fee for the building permit. Inspections along the way. A final inspection for a certificate of occupancy. And finally a possible visit from our uncle in the name of the tax man to possibly reassess your taxes (rent) for the improvements you made to their property. - How about taking 'your' property from you outright in the name of progress/advancement and the good of the community by means of eminent domain. Oh don't worry, they'll pay you FMV. We can all share a collective laugh at that prospect. - How about the 'protection' of 3rd Amendment to the Constitution?
