At one point, early in my ancients collecting (c.1998) I decided I should specialize in coins of the Hephthalites/Huns and related. I soon got some decent examples of the main types, but my heart wasn't really into it, and I soon moved onto Parthians. Now, 20 years later, I've added a few more Hephthalite/etc. coins, but now they make sense as part of my broader collection of Sasanian and early Islamic, as examples from the borderlands that often imitated Sasanian designs. Just remember to read up on whatever you do decide to collect- these coins are so much more meaningful and interesting when you understand who issued them, what the designs and inscriptions mean, what was going on when they were in use, etc.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
