A local house is known as the "Chicken Ranch" as the owners keep a number of the birds.

They have this little item on display, a bowl or cup with 13 Indian Head or Buffalo nickels:

A closer look at the nickels

Most of the nickels appear to have dates in the 1930's.

Looks like it might have been an old belt buckle ?

That's how I feel. I'm fussy I guess but I don't like coins used this way

Fun oddity to hang on to, but otherwise just a group of damaged Buffalo nickels.

Before the age of camera phones I have made a couple of belt buckles for people including one of 5 art bars of .999 silver and a bunch of halves. Just can't tell with some peoples taste. Or as I have told people in the past the only taste you have is in your mouth.

I agree with the belt buckle comment.

Heh...”chicken ranch” huh?? Careful who you mention that to, Significant Other may smack you to death with a rolling pin if they know you’ve visited.

Nice to see they have some buffalo nickels on hand.

EDIT: Reminds me of those dive bars where people tape dollar bills from all over the world on the walls. Upscale establishments find it more tasteful to put currency on the wall rather than dead chickens. Standards to uphold and such. ;-)
