Buffalo Nickel Question?

The 2 legged one is suppose to be a 35-D...

I'm sorry, the other coin listed is a 35 P.

 

Am I the only one that is confused here?

 

Suppose to be nickels from abraded dies. The only thing the reading on this said was that since the 37-D got all the attention, the 30-S & 35-D was all but ignored. There was no mention of an actual minting error...

 

To black0dog7315: Do you actually have this coin or just the photos. I wanted to buy one for my collection so let me know if it is available if you acually have the coin.

This is an old-time counterfeit that goes back prior to the 1960's as they were featured in Spadone's variety and oddity guide for United States coins which underwent 8 editions from 1962 untile 1980. These coins were listed in the books as 2-leggers but have since then been proven to be false pieces -- counterfeits in other words. There are two identical pieces dated 1935 and 1936. From your photos I cannot tell whether this is 1935 or 1936. An intereseting adjunct to the buffalo nickel series.

The pictures and words were straight out of Ron Pope's book "The Abraded Die Varieties". . I wish I did own the coin though. Have you heard of the 2 coins that the OP was referring to?

 

seriously you guys should know that spiders run QUICK and this being a spider buffalo make it 2x quick! I believe this coin exists but it runs too fast for people to get an actual picture... it's like bigfoot but with 6 more legs...

BTW the 2 legged buffalo just walks upright. -He's just a little more civilized than the rest I guess.

 

I know Ron and live a few miles away from him, did not realize it was from his book a copy of which I have. I had heard about the 1930-s eight legger but had never seen one. I think this was originally listed in Spadone's variety oddity guide in the 1960.s
