Okay, then that portion of it sticks for me. If this sale is "all or nothing" though, it's going to be $$.

If your friend has taken as much time with the other coins in the book, the appraisal of the Buffalo set should be done by a buffalo specialist, Randy. It's such a nuanced series to grade properly.

So many different dates have peculiarities all their own, and appraising with a universal grading standard across all dates / mintmarks would almost certainly be an injustice to the set.

Yeah, I know.... Not real sure my pockets will run that deep.

Honestly, that old book was mostly filled by his mother in the 1950's. He took it on himself to finish the deal when his mother passed and I helped him hunt down some of the pieces twenty years ago. I remember when we celebrated finding the 3-leg. There were photos that were very incriminating at the time..... I sure hope they don't ever show back up.

I wasn't expecting to see the 36 3 1/2 nor even the lower grade. That is a rare coin. They were overlooked and considered inferior, Most went into circ. There are only 4 that grade above an XF45.

That coin surprised me as well.
