I understand people's reluctance to pay the proof price. However, the UNCs will have to compete with the Maples and Nuggets so those prices should be comparable. The Mint has a cash cow going on with the proof coins and as long as they get any milk, they will keep producing. I do not see any changes soon as people continue to buy coins off the cable networks at even much higher prices than the Mint!

If your from around MA and the Cape, i would reccomend Falmouth Stamp&Coin, who I find very fair. If your not from around here they have a website www.stampsandcoins.com, where you can order from.

You can bet I'll be in line for this coin, still building my herd and this should be a fine addition. I do agree that $875 is quite pricey but we've all heard that "a coin is worth what a person is willing to pay for it".

I can understand why you would want the 2009 cents, but why the 2010 - 2012 cents?

because that short series end 2012. just like the jefferson westward journey end 2006. and statehood quarters end 2008.

why not a .9999 fineness silver buffalo series to match the canadian maple leaf?.

I just pre-ordered one UNC from apmex. I usually stick with Morgan dollars under $20, so this was a tough one for me (and my wallet).

...and have you ever set a Frosty down for a few hours at room temperature? I'd agree with soquid.

What series? The four commemorative reverses for the centennial of the cent is a one year only issue, 2009. Then if the cent continues after 2009 there will be a different reverse but it will continue until the cent is discontinued or they legislate a new design.

If the uncirculated coins are priced about the same as other bullion coins, I might try to pick up one slabbed as MS69 when they become available. But I don't have an interest in paying a premium for a proof coin. Any price under $600 could look pretty attractive in a few years.
