Fun coin. I believe this is what is called a filled die coin. Not much value but a bit cool.

Imagine somehow adding a 43 to the date :wideyed:

Worn Die strike with debris filled die.
I would pay $1.00 for it to add to my collection.

OK? No need for another picture.
A worn clogged die did not allow the numbers to be struck properly.

Are you mad because I won’t sell it to you? I’m new to this forum, no reason to be rude

He's not being rude, just re-stating a fact. Your first pic was enough to come to a conclusion. Of which I agree.

Not to worry, you will be gone shortly weather you like it or not. We have youngsters here and you are way out of line. Care to bury yourself even further?

    Mad? Never.
I told you the truth. I own about 30 just like yours. I don't need it.

I was going to ask you about your detecting gorilla picture since I am also a detectorist but now I'm not interested. You get a life!

I think from the style of the S you could figure out what decade the coin is from.
With a bright light and a loupe, you could also look for very faint signs of a date.

I would guess the coin is from the 40s.

@1peterson how was this rude? He only commented that he liked it and commented that he would have bought it. Your picture was very good (with the exception that you could post it full-size) and was good enough for all of us to see. Lots of metal detectorists here, you should stick around.

@paddyman98 I believe that is supposed to be Big Foot, not a gorilla, but being from the East Coast, maybe you just aren't familiar with him/her/it. LOL

@1peterson, shame on you. You are a grown man, retired, 50 year collector and metal detectorist and your first post, you lowered yourself in most of CT members eyes by your response. If you bother to stick around, you can learn a lot from members here, but we don't take lightly to being abused. We do this for FREE and have nothing to gain by giving out incorrect information.
