Broken die

    Good morning all
    I have this dime I ran across today . The w in we looks like a cud at the bottom. Any thoughts?

    That's not what a CUD is. But looks like PMD either way.

    Hard to tell on a photo. If the area in question is a depression, then yes, it is post-mint damage and a definite spender. If the whole area of the spot is raised, it is a die chip. These are common on dimes and really give it little or no added value. A cud would be a "blob" that appears to come from the edge of the coin and is caused by a portion of the die breaking off.

    These are true Cuds. They are on the edge of the coin and raised.
