Now that I see it enlarged, I see it says 1936 and not 1956.

value of 1/2 crown is two shillings and sixpence old money (18 old pennies, currently = 12.5 GB pence)

Demonetized a long time ago. Now worth silver content.

Wow, now that is very nice, thanks for sharing the pic with me. I have had these coins forever, but, I am just now at the point that I can try to find out what I have and what they are. If they are worth anything or just something to give my children for sentimental value. Thanks for your information! Have a great day

Worth way more if it was passed down in the family

@Pamela R. Dougan, welcome to CT!

Consider the history that well circulated coin has seen. 1936...it could have passed through Churchill's hands; may have survived the Battle of Britain...but most certainly through the hands of many who, famous or not, lived during an extremely important era in the history of our planet! :):cigar:

I collect many coins like that, the more circulated, the better...they are "keepers"!:happy::happy:

Yes, welcome to CT! And @PlanoSteve hit the nail right on the head. These “veterans” all have a story to tell; for almost all of them the stories will remain a mystery. That allows us to use our imagination.
