[QUOTE="ambro, post: 316730, member: 11143"]I think the amero liberty needs a piercing, maybe one on the nose and a few on the top of the ear ;) Its tough to think of bringing back a "liberty" design on a circulating coin. First, it would be a direct insult to the President it was replacing. Very politically incorrect. Certainly the mint can crank out issues until the planchets run out, but a coin that is not circulating...in my opinion...will never gather collector interest in the long term. Wouldnt it be nice if the American Eagle $1 bullions were a circulating issue? To see these after ten, or twenty years of pocket wear? And to then really appreciate those that were preserved and slabbed in ms69 or so? That was the beauty of collecting in the "olden' days. Circulation made the chase for a better coin for the book much more appealing. Back in the day, when you pulled out a Standing Liberty quarter in AU or so...THAT was a find. Sure, you could buy one, but circ. finds always have an appeal that cant be beat. Today we are seeing more and more of a shift to a plastic based economy. Coins are not as important as they used to be, and to many just an annoyance. Thats why we accumulate these cans and jars of pocket change, we really dont need it to begin with. 100 years from now, people will be collecting old visa and mastercards!
