I don’t want to start a political debate, but I really don’t see the point in releasing a commemorative coin for the Brexit. If you still want to read about it, here’s a link: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ence-coin-minted-to-mark-brexit-idUSKBN1ZP0N0 Fun fact: millions of coins were melted because the Brexit date changed... let’s see if a few of those appear anywhere
They brought out a commemorative 50 Pence when we joined the EEC and another when it morphed into the EU. I don't see why not one for leaving.
Heck, you can commemorate almost anything. Look at what the Mint (US) issues year after year (and I'm bound to buy it [one of my specialties]). I think they might do a co-commem with the Brits on this one.......Brexi (EDIT)Exit.......OK. I know, I know. It ain't gonna happen. Maybe we could enlist Danial Carr to commision such a piece? But who the devil would buy it?
Seems worthy of a commemorative to me. This is a really big deal for our UK friends. The US issues commems for far less significant events.
Your mileage may vary, but I can think of few contemporary coins that don't disappoint. There was a thread last year that explored that very subject: Best Designs for Modern Coins?
I agree. It seems more apologetic or sensitive to triggering Brexit opponents than it does celebratory.
Great Britain generally does a good job with them, though this years set is their worst in many years. Exactly, I would have never even been able to guess the subject matter from that one.
