1848 Large Cent with original old envelope - $50 1816 Large Cent Newcomb?? Problems, but just $18 1858 3-Cent Silver raw F12 - $30 1773 Colonial Halfpenny - $75 1898 Indian Cent - $13 1907 Indian Cent - $13
Well, i didnt realize the early american copper could be had for such low prices. The Virginia 1/2 penny, Is that the going rate for those or did you commit a mis-demeanor? The 1907 IHC for $13 is well, a felony....
Some very nice acquisitions at what seem to me to be bargain prices. The large cent with the old auction envelope is quite a buy, as is the colonial half penny. I am green with envy.....
I don't know the going rate for the halfpenny. I usually see them for over $100, but one other dealer had one in Good for $85. I liked this one, and, being a VA boy, I always admired them. This one, the "no period," seems to be much more rare than the with period variety. There's a neat story behind a barrel full of these being found, all in UNC condition and tons of RB! Google it!
The 1816 LC is N-2. http://www.coinfacts.com/large_cents/matron_head_large_cents/1816_large_cents/1816_large_cent_n2.htm so you can compare.
IMO, except for the Colonial, you should be arrested for stealing! All from the same dealer or was everyone cash poor? I looked up your profile to try to guess where the show was...no luck.
The Virginia halfpenny is unique in American coinage as the only coin struck for a specific colony with royal patent. All others were tokens, or struck as general circulation pieces and notably the Rosa Americana and Hibernia pieces - were largely rejected by the colonies.
I think a better title for the post would have been "I bought some expensive stuff really cheap at the coin show today!"
