I thought that it might be time for a list of Books on tokens, medals and other exonumia. Here are the ones I have picked up so far along with a 3 ring binder of the newsletter jackpot (13 volumes) from the Amusement token collectors association. Great for the lists and descriptions of tokens every issue. Video arcade, pinball, slot machine, and other amusement tokens of North America, first edition 1984 S P Alpert and K E Smith Some are out of print and available on the secondary used book market. I will caution members here to don't jump on the first one you see. As some of the sellers on flea bay, amazon and the used books want really silly prices. I have posted these sites before you can find them if you look and don't fall for the BS by the sellers. The US token 1700- 1900 book I have seen asked almost $300.00 USD I paid under $30.00 plus shipping same with the other books http://www.addall.com/ book search engine numerous world wide sites http://used.addall.com/ book search engine numerous world wide sites http://www.alibris.com/ an assortment of booksellers
Another source of information for the casino chip collector would be "A Collector's Guide to Nevada Gaming Checks & Chips" by Howard W. and Kregg L. Herz. It was published by Whitman in 1995. Chris

Here are some more Token books I just got today and one related one The start of the big version. this looks to be a real good one, I have included the contents page of the combined article that are in it. Higley Coppers,CWT,HTT,Large cents and counterstamps, etc. It will be the first one I read. This is a recent one and I have seen it at some coin supply sites on the web. of course what the arcade tokens went in to :LOL2:
I will update that the Instant Expert: Collecting Lucky coins, tokens and medals Deals with "LUCKY" exonumia of all kinds only. Descriptive copy was a little more broad in its scope.
Here is the latest it is the revised second edition, and a pretty good one to It has a small booklet style price list. Here is the so called dollar web site for Iding. The link to the publisher is at the bottom of the page. http://www.so-calleddollars.com/index.html
Not a book but a wealth of information. I had to buy it, who would have thought these could be worth $20.
Here is a list of exonumia and non-standard issue books I have gathered thus far for my library, just copied and pasted here except for having removed most of the non-exonumia titles. Yes, a few of the books were printed in the 1800s. Hopefully the formatting will not change. 50 STATES ALABAMA AL 1995 Alabama Trade Tokens, Roy J. @cwtokenman That's quite a list! You named a couple of mine, but I think I'm going to have post pictures anyway. My favorites!
Related, I have an 800-page book titled Ghost Towns of the West, by Lambert Florin; includes Alaska and western Canada. Library of Congress #73-90741. Will be glad to post info if you run into a dead end on a token.
Ever read anything in there about Hachita, New Mexico? Don't have a picture of the token handy but it's Spanish-American War era and is listed in Cunningham Vol I. I was just looking for some background info on the town. I'll get pictures up soon...still recovering...
My New Mexico token book lists a number of military tokens for Hachita. Not much background on the town though, just that it is in Grant County. There is some info & maps on the web. It is a small town. From Wikipedia:Hachita is a census-designated place in Grant County, New Mexico, United States. Its population was 49 as of the 2010 census. Hachita has a post office with ZIP code 88040. New Mexico State Road 9, New Mexico State Road 81, and New Mexico State Road 146 pass through the community. Hachita is not to be confused with Old Hachita, which is a ghost town several miles west of town.
Do not trust the rarity or price list in the so called dollar booklet. I have found some are wildly off. Not to mention it is now eight years out of date. Love the book though but find myself using the website much more.
Here is the latest addition to my library Picked it up on the amazon from Rich Hartzog His web site http://www.exonumia.com/ some of the other people selling this book on Amazon must be out of their mind with the prices they are asking!
That Tax token book is a pretty good one. I just wish they had included color charts to help identify which shade of a color the plastic tokens match. That is a difficult determination, especially when any given run of a color will have variations. Words are not always best to describe the differences between multiple shades of a color.
