Nice display, Bob. I have been wondering how to display bronze arrowheads in a cabin. Yours is an excellent example. Thanks for sharing.
This is a great Top 10! Those are some wonderful artifacts and a very handsome display. The Nike potsherd is really cool.
I lean toward the juglet (8). Thanks for sharing Bob. Now I know what sherds or shards are. I have a lot of them and thought they had no value, being a total beginner in antiquities. I also learned that potteries that have holes, or a little damaged or lacking parts of theirs are still valuable. Again thanks for sharing this very useful selection.
You never disappoint Bob. Those are incredible! I really appreciate you showing them here because I would not know what to look for if I wanted to acquire something like this.
Thanks, zumbly. I did make sure to post a coin as one of my runners-up in Curtisimo’s Top 10 Index thread.
Beautiful set, Bob! I agree that the iron mask dirk/sword is something else, wow! And a solid 500 years older than my oldest coin to boot! I'll echo the comments that seeing intact black glaze is also incredible. Collecting antiquities certainly has its appeal (and I've even put in a handful of unsuccessful bids on various rings in the past 2 years) but I'd be afraid that my entire house would soon be consumed by them!
Thanks, Steve. That "sword" is ugly as heck - a rusted-out piece of three thousand year-old iron - but it's important, a real standout in my weapons collection. Was very pleased to acquire it.
Thanks for your link, Bob. You have a very nice collection of bronze weaponry! I collected a few bronze arrowheads. Here are two in my collection:
