I personally would not have paid that much for that coin. I have a pretty strict self-imposed rule about not keeping "details" coins with issues in my collection. But sometimes it is hard to hold to that standard, because there is stuff out there in "details" holders that is quite attractive. I think this is such a coin, and stand by my earlier assessment that, despite the cleaning/potential AT issue with it, it is still a good looking coin. And it's a key date, too. So I certainly think there's no shame in loving it like you do, and keeping it. It's not badly struck, either. That's often an issue with the 1921 Peace dollars.
That is an expensive lesson, and add in the grading fees. In the end it’s a details (no grade) AU coin. It’s a good lesson if you learn it. Still, it’s a nice looking coin and it could retain that color for a long time. Enjoy it as you grow in this hobby.
