Ah yes, in base 10, but what about binary? "The world is made up of 10 different kinds of people, those who know binary, and those who don't." Also... "There's no place like 127.0.0.0"
How'd you know? Seriously, after my time in the Army this is one habit which has never left me, even 35 years later. I pack stuff tight into the drawers, and a wrinkle is a cause for panic. I am disgustingly slovenly otherwise, rarely make my own bed, but a Drill Sergeant would find no faults inside my dressers.
Since the seller has the option to decline an offer, there is no contractual obligation there whether you are making the offer no matter the reason. Since I used to sell a lot of cheap coins, I got some really cheap people wanting several coins for under melt with free shipping. Well, I now understand why people combine these coins in lots even though there are so many people that want to buy them individually.
I cannot speak for the gentleman, but I believe his point was that by listing with the offer option, a seller now shoulders the responsibility of considering all offers, be them serious or ridiculous, and everything in between.
He can consider all offers and reject them all if he so chooses. He is under no obligation to take any of them.
Exactly... but common sense should dictates that if you offer someome half or less of their asking price, there's going to be a chance that they're not going to take kindly to it. Such people shouldn't potentially insult someone if they, right or wrong, can't handle getting the same returned in kind. If someone slaps a dog and he bites them, who can rightfully blame him? Unfortunately, it seems many here would expect the dog to thank them and be grateful for the attention.
Hey, he (seller) started it.........Not reading this from the beginning (forgive me folks) but if the seller don't like the offer he can simply decline it, right? Why the need to call OP dishonest?
Of couse.... but the seller starting it is, with all due respect, somewhat open to debate. Remember, there was no way for him to be aware of this supposed "tea spilling incident", and therefore can only go by what he sees, which was one way low offer, followed by another, along with an announcement that there were more likely similar offers to come. One cannot rightfully be expected to field lowball after lowball after lowball before concluding that the guy sending them is probably more trouble than he's worth. If you went down to the local new car lot and repeatedly offered, say, 50% of sticker, chances are that they'd probably ask you (or me or whomever) to leave, and that's essentially what the seller did here. As for the rest, I'm a bit confused; I didn't say the OP was dishonest in the post you quoted, nor was I even talking to or about him. My apologies for any caused confusion though.
I would think a low-ball offer would be a starting point for some great situational comedy via eBay message, hopefully some that would be copied and pasted on the forums for everyone to enjoy.
