They do, at least with letters they do it, I don't see why other packages wouldn't be treated the same way. Maybe PayPal should have to see some proof, that would make it more fair at least.
I think where some may get confused about the negative feedback, is they may quickly glance at some buyer's feedback, see a red neg on there, and figure that was a seller leaving negative feedback for that buyer. When in fact it was the Ebay feedback section where it says "All Feedback" and the buyer actually got that neg when selling something.
There is way outside of Ebay to achieve legal satisfaction. It's called Small Claims Court. I'm not going to do a dissertation here on the subject, that info can be found on legal websites throughout the internet. Suffice to say depending on what your time is worth and the value of the loss, everyone has to make their own decision about whether or not Small Claims Court is worth their time and effort. I have used Small Claims Court quite successfully over the years. There is a bit of a learning curve in doing it, but overall it's not that complicated, and can be very effective.
One of the more recent was actually a "positive", since sellers cannot leave negatives. It is in all caps. It states he did the same thing to them. Then yes, one of the negatives came from a buyer who apparently returned something, and he said it was an empty return package as well.
Can't you file a claim with the post office? Recover you $280 dollars - I know the one time a seller sent me something that disappeared it took about 90 days, but eventually we got the money back. I did not have to do anything. Now it might be the buyer is a scammer, but I would have asked for pictures and filed a claim with the post office on the insurance.
You must not have read much of the thread. The buyer will not contact me to provide any pictures or info. Actually hung up on me when I called them. Cannot file a claim with USPS because of this, plus no insurance anyways.
Correct - I did not read the whole thread. But no insurance does defeat where I was going. I would have filed a claim based solely off their email telling me it arrived empty. Then could have added the paypal claim information - but with no insurance, I would say you are screwed. But I would certainly talk to paypal. I wonder what would happen if it was sold through great collections. Maybe another reason to give them a try versus ebay.
Heh, I couldn't help but laugh at this one... capitalist pigs get slaughtered...I like the OP (most days ) and we can bond on the fact that we both like making money on hot products. You are self-insured. You obviously understand that these issues happen. You obviously understand that eBay and PayPal suck, yet you complain that they didn't back you? Of course they aren't going to back you and I have no idea how you would spend over $280 bucks in insurance even in a year. If I lost just one of my coins, it would take 250-500 sales to make up for the loss. I don't understand why people don't just buy a policy from Hugh Woods or Ship and Insure. $1.50 - up to $500. And as a seller, I ALWAYS look at the winner's feedback before I ship. I guess it depends on how tight your margins are, but I am well up on the majority of my coins that $1.50 isn't going to kill me and most the time, I get higher than I am looking for. You know what would kill me...losing a $20 Gold Coin and being out $1400 bucks.
If I fully insured every package, I would spend about $200 per month on insurance. I can lose one every 2 months and come out ahead. Oh, and I guess it is good I got so many of the Truman coins. Helped even out this loss
Asking for pics and investigating the sellers story should be taken care of by PayPal and that should be done before they take your money and pay it out to some liar. By their inaction, they are creating scammers plain and simple. Idiots!!
