wondering what the value of these would be in a general sense for these cents. also when buying old cents by weight (no wheats, all newer but no Zincolns), what is the going rate ? Here's a blank panchet with what looks like scotch tape on the back (yes, really). looks like some stampings, or scratches, or nothing on the one tape side. Click for full size
If the planchet weighs 3.1g, $3 without the Scotch tape, 2.5g zinc, $2 without the Scotch tape. Your own personal results may vary. Kids, don't try this at home. (That's with a rim, which I think yours does. More $ without a rim.)
it has a really thin rim. Guess I need to weight it although the scotch tape will make it heavier. anything visual to identify a zincoln vs copper? either way, not going to pay for anyone's retirement.
thanks, I'll compare it to a zincoln and copper lincoln when I get a chance. like an inch or so at first - when I can hear a diff between the 2 regulars.
The weight won't be that much more with the Scotch tape. The weight will tell you if it is copper or zinc. Acetone should remove that tape. Even though it won't dissolve, I think it would separate from the coin, once the glue has dissolved.
I have no fervor for buying rolls from the bank. I'm not a CRH person. Just buying an old collection from a co-worker, which contains pennies and a few other higher valued things. This is just the cents. I found my old coin machine so I'm all set in counting. I forgot that I had it .. from the 1970s or 80s.
