    Found this black Quarter.

Looked it over has no signs of Weathering or Corrosion. Just completely black.

What would it be worth for this type of coin?

I don't think there is any added value for the blackness on the quarter. I believe it to be environmental damage.

Your answer is there. I have one of these too. It's not worth anything more than face, but it looks cool so I keep it in my collection.

Most of the clad coins that have been in the ground will be black/brown once recovered. I find a lot of these coins with my metal detector. :)-O)

Chances are, that your QT is a metal detecting find. The clad QT turn this color, when in the soil for a time. I find many as such.

This is such an old thread. That member is no longer on CoinTalk.

I have at least 3 of these black quarters and a dime. A while back on fb it stated they were worth thousands if we find one but had to have certain years on them.

Which itiot told you that? Did that itiot bother to mention "improperly annealed" coins or "Black Beauty" Jeffersons? Probably not!

No.. Not worth thousands. More like 85 Cents in total. They are environmental damage. Here are many I have metal detected over the years -

Also had a black quarter. Not sure if it was a medal detecting find, but when I went to weigh it, it was about .25 grams lighter than a normal quarter. Not sure it’s worth checking out, but .25 grams is the weight of nickel in a quarter.

    1. Welcome to C.T.
    2. You should start your own thread.
    3. Post clear cropped pics of both sides of your coin.
    4. Unless it is very high grade, or an error/variety etc... it's worth what Paddy said.
