Bizarre 1946 Nickel with "1946" date overstamped -- with backwards 4!

    Jamboree.... I have a 1936 buffalo nickel with the exact same 1946 (backward 4) counter stamp. There is a difference though, my coin has this exact stamp on the obverse and reverse, perfectly centered over the Indian and buffalo. Also note worthy...the Indian looks like he had a bullet hole through his temple. I don't think this is "some nut". Counter stamping has been used in the past for advertising and political views. I'll post a few pictures shortly.

    Welcome to the fun. Someone was just playing around with your coin. You can buy a set of these punches for about $10 and punch your own. Again, welcome. Hope you hang out here if you are interested in coins.
