Really? I think of graffito as markings purposefully scraped/etched into a coin. Surely that S and divot were struck into the coin? I don't see any obvious flattening on the reverse though. Hmm.

    Maybe a simple bankers mark?

Yeah, come to think of it, it is pretty deep for a graffito.

I don't think the (dot) S was part of the die and I think someone carved it into the coin after it was made. It is probably unique. I could be wrong...

    but...

Lovely coin @Okidoki, and I fall on the side that it is more likely a banker's mark.

Yea I had a think about whether to buy it or not, but so many coins of interest at the moment, unfortunately you can't buy them all.

Looks the same S , as on the earlier Roman Republic big bronze Semis coins.
S for Sabina , Hadrian's wife ? seems imho very big for a bankers mark.
The temple on the reverse looks a bit like Alexander's coffin with the Victory/Niké's
on top. Hadrian almost surely visited the tomb of Alexander.
anyway Congrats Eric, its a big interesting Hadrianus.
