Bit of Help, Please - Newcomb Number

    The label will be of help, but can you pin down the Newcomb Number?

    N-5 which is R-1 rarity

    I know nothing about Newcomb Numbers but I do know that is one sweet coin. Thanks for showing it off to us.

    Thanks for ID'ing the coin.
    I've got the book (U. S. Cents 1840-1857 by Grellman) but there must be something more to ID'ing that coin than just "Mature Head, Lg Letters".
    I'll look again and see.

    BTW, since I'm getting my photos finalized I'll need more help on others that I couldn't for some reason ID.
    Don't disappear on me :)

    the date position and those lines on the reverse by MER gave it away

    And once I get them all put together like that I hope to create a website that people can browse through.
    There was a time I could do the HTML myself but I've found that the knowledge has slipped my mind in the last 30 or so years.
    So I may end up paying someone to put it together for me.
    HTML has changed a lot since then.
