Hey VDBforDave . There are a ton of reasons to join a local club,(or several). At the Glendale Coin Club we have presentations on a wide variety of topics, we have an auction where you can buy or sell coins raffles, and you can meet people who are interested in all different types of collecting. We have members that collect pretty much everything from silver strike medals from Vegas to souvenir items of the Pan Pac convention. We also put on a coin show once a year( This year it's Oct 21st in VanNuys). We only meet once a month, on a friday, and we have members from all over So Cal.

I'll second what Mike said about the Bid Boards so long as you don't bid on any of the coins I want on the Citi Coin board. JK. At times there are some good deals to be had and usually there are a few errors on the board. I usually try to make it every week. The Coins plus board ending on a Tuesday night kinda kills it for me, and going on a Saturday and putting my bids in doesn't result in too many wins. But I'm sure Mike has enough competition up there he doesn't mind me missing it There is also a buy board at Universal Coin Galleries in Pasadena, but definitely not the same as the bid board. There is a coin shop that just opened in Torrance that is planning a bid board, but when I went they still didn't have it figured out and running.

Anyway, if you make it to Citi Coin at auction end feel free to say hello. Or feel free to PM me if you want any info on a club or shows coming up.
