It looks like his listings were taken down... He only has one thing up for auction, and its not even a coin. Or all his coin auctions ended.
It’s better to fill the hole with a legal pieces that is marked “COPY” than a deceptive piece that could fool another collector. My attitude has always been, if I can’t afford a decent example of a coin, I learn to do without. The was a hole for the 1856 Flying Eagle in my Indian Cent album in the 1960s. I never dreamed of filling it. I did put an 1873 Closed 3 cent in there at one point. There is also and Open 3 variety, and I collected both.
Never saw where that one reference was stamped copy he was trying to sell a fake not copy? I'm only missing about $4000 to fill that hole? Maybe a go fund me page? LOL
I bought this one years ago knowing it was a fake. It is a VAM1 normal die, The date position is correct as far as I can see. It is silver and it also has the correct weight. On my scale it teeters from 26.7 to 26.6. So well within tolerance. There are a couple areas of concern. Can anyone point them out?
Reverse: blobs in E of ONE and above D of UNITED; moth-eaten appearance of D of DOLLAR; weakness at top of STATES, especially S T & T. General blobbiness of reverse lettering. Obverse: blobby stars, pimple on S, raised scratches in field behind neck. I'm not familiar enough with varieties to spot specific VAM-related inconsistencies, and I'd probably miss details that were the wrong shape, but these are the general fake diagnostics I think I see on this coin. It's possible I'd see more if I stared longer.
I bought this coin upfront knowing it was fakeamundo. It was $9.95 w/ FREE shipping. I bought it on the idea that I knew it was fake and it would be cool having a fake in my collection. It also gives me a coin to let kids play with thinking it's cool. Still ... It looks nice enough.
The trouble is when you buy counterfeits from counterfeit sellers, you are supporting their activities. They don’t deserve to get paid for what they sell.
