Even sadder is more people voted in his poll in this thread as extremely rare than NO! As I write this...
We truly are sarcastic. Did anyone make an offer? I offered $1, upped it to $2 and topped out at $2.50 really, c'mon everyone make him an offer
Compare your date (bottom) to actual 1944 dates. The 9 and the 4's are wrong. This is a commonly faked coin.
I would hate to think that the real numismatist are dying and we are being over run by the uneducated. Lest not think about that. What we should be thinking about is the fact that an altered cent is being sold for a ridiculous price.
Just checked eBay. IT SOLD!!! Some poor soul is out $700. ($699.99). Those 7 Coin Talk members that voted extremely rare need to better their knowledge re Numismatics.
Those are freshly minted coins no telling when they were photographed compared to a recently snapped and uploaded photo
If people would only use common sense... For one of the listings the seller has sold fake "1909 s vdb", clearly advertised as fake. So obviously [the seller] knows where to source these kind of coins. This one sold for $700. For the other listing, the seller has zero feedback, the slab looks sketchy af and the description isn't any better: "Found in a estate along with two 1916-D Mercury dimes and quite a few other rare items." And last but not least, there is no reason to buy such pricey coins raw. If I'm paying $700 I'm happy to also pay $760 (or whatever cost the certification) and be sure I'm not being played. Also putting myself on the seller's (or OP) shoes, the only reason why I wouldn't pay for the certification is if I'm 120% sure the coin is fake. If I happen to find something like that I'd asking how to have it authenticated instead of fighting people who disagree with me.
He's a major azzhat. Right above he claims that photos of genuine 1944 Lincoln cents are of "freshly minted" coins. I guess in azzhats world, ALL coins are "freshly minted." Z
Copied this one earlier but now it's gone...so is the one from the OP, no trace of it. Did it sell or did he remove it?
