That is because it was. But not according to him.

  4. The question I’ll find out from PCGS is, Cancelled dies are said to have those two ridges running across... there was no mention of defaced dies having them.

  5. I’m not even remotely versed in US Mint dies. If they grind them, alright.... I’ve never thought about it....

PMD = post mint damage. Looks like it was used as a tool or spacer...:nailbiting::dead::nurse:

Question for BTA - (the OP)

Do you still believe that this '56 cent is a
genuine Mint Error coin, or is it possible
that all of the posts here, and in your other
thread, are correct, and that the coin is
    simply damaged?

    Hi:)
    Imho,
    Pmd.

Is it possible that these coins with the reverse shaved and smoothed out rims.
could have been used for jewelry, cuff links ,button ect.?
Notice the center of the reverse has a possible notch? Where to fasten the coin.

What you are seeing at the center of the rev is the bottom bar of the E and left upright of the N.

Send it in to FGS (Franks Grading Service), along with a $100 and I'll put whatever you want on the label.

    Thank you @Conder101 .
Imho, it still looks like it’s grounded down on purpose for a purpose.

Ground down on purpose, I would agree, for a purpose who knows.
