The 65/66 Dodge dart was probably one of the best rides ever made...the 225 slant 6 was a beast... A HS buddy mom had a 65...which Gary took over when he got his license. That engine ran on a qt of oil.... and it as fast for a 6cyl. A many a night piled in her and drove down the ocean...running 80 mph most of the way....dusters,swingers also had the 225.
@Randy Abercrombie What co-incidence. I just watched an episode of "Black Mirror" last night on Netflix. It was all about AI and controlling bees to save the world until someone hacks into the software and turns the bees into murderers. Good series, every episode is self-contained and sort of like a modern version of the Twighlight Zone, except all episodes are about a dystopian future.
I had been working overtime to make enough to buy a new care. Just about after I got it, I got a letter from Uncle Same inviting me to report to the bus station to take me to Bragg for Basic. I got married while I was in the army. We needed a car, so we checked our finances. It seems that with help from her father, we bought a 1968 Rambler American. Then she got pregnant and had to quit work, so her father made the payments until I got out of the army. It took 20+ years to be able to buy a decent car. Then number 2 and number 3 came. Then I bought a 1972 Pontiac Lemans. It took me 25 years to buy a car i wanted. Luckily, I had a friend that was the General Manager of the Chevrolet dealership. I bought a 2002 Camaro. Then my kids turned 16 and I couldn't afford the insurance on the car, so i sold it and bought a station wagon. Now I'm on my second marriage and we own 2 homes, 4 vehicles and we are both retired. My kids (not kids anymore both are in their 40's) hate me due to the divorce. Then I got into coin collecting and am finally having fun.
