that $15.00 insurance "payout" is only for negotiable items, like plain cash. Just be sure to make clear that it is a numismatic coin, a collectible coin. And then you safely have lots of insurance available. That "clause" you are referring to is from the DMM Manual section 609, 4.1 "o". FILING INDEMNITY CLAIMS.

I need to start a new THREAD, not a conversation, on this subject. (still on topic) How do I go about it? Do I need to upgrade? If so to what? Is there a cost involved. Can only dealers make new threads? Why is it so hard to get information here??

In the Domestic Mail Manual it does say that in order to get more than a $15 payout for bullion you have to ship it Registered.

It also says that for coins of numismatic value those will be compensated for at the fair market value. It is the typical problem, so many rules and regulations that the employees don't really know the rule but they think they do. So you have to be able to point out specifically in the regulations that you are covered. (This is why I have a link to the DMM on my computer, so I can refer to it as needed.)

As to how to post a new thread, if you back out of this thread you should find yourself in the Coin Chat subforum. At the top of that page you should see a blue box that says Post a New Thread. Click that and you are on your way.

Or if you look at the top of this page you should see somethng that tels you where you are. On my computer it says Home - Forums - Coin Forums - Coin Chat

If you click on one of those it will take you there. Coin Chat if you want your thread in this subforum, Coin Forums will let you see all the subforums so you can chose the most appropriate one to post your thread in. (For example if you had a question about an error coin, from the Coin Forus page you can select the Error Coins subforum and then click the Post New Tread button there.)

If you click on Forums you can see ALL the forums on the Cointalk website.

It isn't hard to get information here, just ask. there is always someone around to help.

Where did you get the $135 figure from? I signed up over the last weekend and it only cost me a $45 membership and that seemed to be my only option?

Please go in to detail. I called the guy who runs NACA and he said $135 is the standard.

Where did you sign up at?

Edit: Ahhhhhhh... I see its a special 6 month rate so really $90 per year.

Hugh Wood's the way for me to try for my first bunch getting graded! Putting a figure on ANY P.O. ins. material is a red flag to the light fingered set to take your stuff to their house. You do it and the bureaucratic chain yank will make you pull out your hair, for sure before you see 1c.....

Exactly what prompted me to look elsewhere. S&I seems fair enough, especially if I ship Priority and just insure to my packages contents, shouldnt be too bad.

My other option was Registered and that gets expensive.
