Best way to crack out of slab

    Yea they go everywhere. I found part of a pcgs slab under a shelf of tools yesterday. My shops far from immaculate tho. Be better when I get the new one done in the spring and have over 2x more space

    good idea when using the end cut pliers to lay a cloth over the whole shebang to contain the flying plastic shards.

    Vise and a Dremel tool with a cutting blade, cut the top off the
    Slab and slide the coin out. Easy and fast.

    All of the aforementioned methods will work if you have access to those tools, and a very steady hand if you try using a hammer. I use a pair of Vise Grips, adjust the Jaws so that they are slightly closer together than the thickness of the Slab's Edge, and then proceed to squeeze the Handles until a crack starts to form along that side. On the longer sides it takes about 2-3 repositionings; on the shorter side 1-2. Although this is a fairly well controlled process, pieces can and do fly off so do wear Saftey Glasses or regular glasses.
