if your going to clean bullion I like the simple no harsh chemical method. baking soda, alum foil and hot water. use a glass or plastic container. I tried it,. works good and it's cheap. mostly I just let it tone.

I know when I buy bullion I like it to look like new, and so do many others, so I figured I would post this more for reselling purposes. I tend not to buy toned silver for some reason.

Well, silver will tone. Honestly, toning is really an extremely good thing. One, it provides a defensive layer to the metal. Two, once you educate yourself about toning it will show you right away the bullion is silver. One of the things sg imitations of silver cannot do is tone like silver. Why not use that to your advantage? Heck, unless I was buying freshly minted round, bars, or ASE's, LACK of toning would be more of a concern to me than toning.

Honestly, worrying about toning on bullion simply reminds me of young collectors wishing to "clean" their lincoln cents. MIllions and millions of cents have been destroyed this way. Leave your stuff alone, just like coins. Store them properly to minimize toning, but if they happen to tone leave them be.
