When Nazi Party organizers came to his town (Stadt Lich) to sign up the town folk as members, he hid out on the roof tops of Lich for three days without food or water, to keep from being involuntarily inducted into the Party. However, this did not keep him out of the German Army as he was drafted and had to serve or he would have been sent to a Concentration Camp. Because he evaded the Nazi Party, he was sent to the Eastern (Russian) Front where he was captured and spent a year or more as a POW of the Russians. Had the Allies not entered and took over the POW Camp when they did, all of the German prisoners would have been executed as they were only minutes ahead of a Russian execution squad. So what I am saying is, don&#039;t judge every German for what some other Germans did during the war. Besides, Hitler was not German!
