Well, I guess this is a matter of opinion. I consider every one of your reasons to be absolutely terrible.
Thanks for the "love" guys! Just leave the 1866 Two Cent Piece please. It was from my dad. Of course the "booty" will be put in an "unusual" place on my person. I won't mind as I'll be dead.
I haven't ever buried coins, so I don't know how well this would work, but I would probably get a large glass jar, fill it with coins and some dessicant like silica packs, and then place that in a plexigass cube, and seal the cube.
That statement was and is a uncalled for! My wifes Grandfather was in the German Army during WW-II and he was a very honorable man. When Nazi Party organizers came to his town (Stadt Lich) to sign up the town folk as members, he hid out on the roof tops of Lich for three days without food or water, to keep from being involuntarily inducted into the Party. However, this did not keep him out of the German Army as he was drafted and had to serve or he would have been sent to a Concentration Camp. Because he evaded the Nazi Party, he was sent to the Eastern (Russian) Front where he was captured and spent a year or more as a POW of the Russians. Had the Allies not entered and took over the POW Camp when they did, all of the German prisoners would have been executed as they were only minutes ahead of a Russian execution squad. So what I am saying is, don't judge every German for what some other Germans did during the war. Besides, Hitler was not German! He was Austrian with some Jewish ancestory, now go figure! Just thought you might want to know some of the facts before you go slinging slurs! Frank
get the screw type tubes and fill those then wrap those in wax paper and place in a canvas bank bag then put that in to one of those steel ammo cans those things never rust and they are sealed against moisture and then just for safe measure seal that in some sort of plastic tote you can melt the lid on or glue it with hot glue or something
And yet history paints them in a different light. Wonder which side of the story people will believe?
Huntsman, Comments like that REALLY turn me off too! That is why I haven't responded until now. My family happens to be of German descent as well, and they sure wern't Nazis! Thank you for your thoughtful response.
I've been dating this girl for a few years but recently been thinking of ending it because she seems mostly concerned about my silver and coins and the more I think about it the more I worry. I have a safe but that does not feel like enough if she starts going out with some loser and tells him about my valuables. For that reason I think I will tell her I am selling my silver and bury it. Then if I ever get burglarized and they went as far as to somehow get my safe opened and didnt find my silver they wouldent think or have time to start digging all over my property. I hate the idea of burying my sliver but I hate the idea even more of worrying that my collections net worth might fall into the wrong hands.
Your own PVC comment gave me an idea: Buy inert coin tubes...the long-storage type, not the cheap ones. Of course these will vary in size depending on denomination. Seal the lids with really good tape OR the stretchy rubber sealing tape like "mighty fixit". THEN put the tubes into the appropriate size PVC pipe and seal it with end caps.
Call to get your yard marked off before you dig. Don't want to hit an electric line. I remember watching a Doomsday Preppers episode with people going to a pawn shop, buying some junk silver dollars, throwing them in a PVC pipe, sealing the pipe with plumbers dope, and randomly burying it in the yard. They remarked they had several tubes in their yard. Problem is now all the people in their area know what they are doing. The silver will look awful b/c of the PVC pipe. Odds are they probably have some tubes that will be hard to find and will be lost.
