Best conditions for allowing old copper to re-tone?

    I've retoned quite a few Lincolns over the years, even got through NGC and PCGS after failing the first time.

    I would NEVER use any sort of chemicals, other than some xylene to strip the surfaces of surface residues. All I do is put a small piece of cardboard in a window sill and set the coin on it (no holder obviously, just the naked coin). I flip it every once in awhile. This process can take as long as 2-3 years but it does work....but every coin is different.
