I phone 4s. Supposedly has a 8 mp camera. Good lighting helps and the images still need to be cropped in the I photo program. Pretty simple. It is comparable to my Sony Cybershot that cost $550 a few years ago.
Some pics from phones are pretty decent (like coppermania's pics- Nice!). It's usually knowing what your phone/camera is capable of and what it's limitations are. Some phone/cameras will take excellent pics of Morgans and larger coins but suck for dimes and cents. Playing around with your camera will show what you can and cannot get good pics of.
OMG! LOL! That should be under glass at the Smithsonian by now. Wow. Just.....weird! How? Its probably not even capable of accessing the networks that are available today. My Motorola electrify has an 8 megapixel camera but I rarely take coin pics with it. It does a pretty good job. A little difficult to post one right now.
New phones with camera capabilities are killing inexpensive (and some not so inexpensive) cameras. They are killing inexpensive video cameras also. Remember the Flip? Cisco bought that - and subsequently killed production. Even though it was still profitable when they killed it. The future was not bright...
I find it a bit infuriating that LeHigh takes better pictures with his cell phone then I do half the time with a real camera...
You know if you have Verizon you can upgrade every 20 months. A lot of the times the phones are free too.
